About us
OCR FM was established in 1991 and was first known as Colac Community radio later changing it's name to CPR FM, Colac Public radio.
Then in the year 2000 the name was changed to Otway FM to reflect the increased listening area as the station had established an Otways transmitter on a second frequency.
The station became known as OCR FM in late 2008 this was yet again due to an expanding listening area, as the station now broadcasts to large parts of Southwest Victoria.
Why should I support OCR FM?
OCR FM is a vital community service for Colac, the Otways as well as a large part of Southwest Victoria for one main reason, OCR FM broadcasts content that is not broadcast on main stream media or on national broadcasters.
This is achieved through providing access to the tools and the equipment required to allow the general public to produce and broadcast content, hence allowing everyday people the ability to become media creators rather than just passive consumers of media.
As a result of this approach to radio production OCR FM broadcasts a range of diverse programs, from services for people with a print disability through to specialist music program such as rock and jazz shows through to comedy and country music.
